This Oscar-winning vérité doc follows a Palestinian activist and Israeli journalist as they work together to document the destruction in the West Bank. Discussion follows.

As all eyes have focused on the ongoing carnage in Gaza, the war in the West Bank intended to push Palestinians off their land has continued. Home demolitions, settler attacks, arrests: since October 2023, more than 600 Palestinians have died in violence in the West Bank. This eye-opening, vérité-style documentary intimately records the day-in, day-out cruelty of a military occupation that has lasted more than half a century.

A young Palestinian filmmaker, Basel Adra, and a young Israeli reporter, Yuval Abraham, along with co-directors Hamdan Ballal and Rachel Szor, captured the story of the villages of Masafer Yatta in the southern West Bank, as the Israeli army exerts growing pressure to push the Palestinians from their land. In addition to the indelible footage of destruction and expulsion captured by its undaunted witnesses, No Other Land serves as a moving portrait of friendship between Adra and Abraham, who form a philosophical and political alliance despite the drastic differences in their abilities to exist freely in this world.
