Join acclaimed biographers Gretchen Gerzina and David Waldstreicher for the opening public event of "Unshackled Lives: American Biographies of Enslavement and Liberation."
The opening event of a two day biography conference on "Unshackled Lives" will feature Gretchen Gerzina, author (among other works) of Mr. and Mrs Prince: How an Extraordinary Eighteenth-Century Family Moved Out of Slavery and Into Legend and Black Britain: A Forgotten Georgian History and David Waldstreicher, author (most recently) of The Odyssey of Phillis Wheatley: A Poet's Journeys Through American Slavery and Independence. Dartmouth History Professor Robert Bonner and Kaija Celestin '25 will moderate the session, which is open to the public and does not require pre-registration.
