What are crowd politics? Who belongs to the category of "the people"? And what can we learn from studying mass mobilizations? Focusing on Bangladesh—one of the world's most crowded places—anthropologist Nusrat Chowdhury addresses these questions in Paradoxes of the Popular: Crowd Politics in Bangladesh.

Join us to hear Professor Chowdhury's take on "the crowd," as she tackles these questions in conversation with

  • Rituparna Mitra (Liberal Arts, Emerson College) and
  • Chelsey Kivland (Anthropology, Dartmouth College).

Elizabeth Lhost (History, Society of Fellows, Dartmouth College) will moderate the discussion.
