Epic in scope, intimate in execution, Ridley Scott presents a thrilling, surprisingly funny account of the rise and fall of the infamous French Emperor (Joaquin Phoenix).

Ridley Scott's action spectacle details the ascendency and ruin of the iconic French Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte. Oscar-winner Joaquin Phoenix commands the screen as the quasi-sociopathic Corsican in this stinging character study entombed within a sweeping tale. The film captures Bonaparte's relentless journey to power through the prism of his addictive, volatile relationship with his one true love, Josephine. Napoleon wields his visionary and tactical genius to conquer Europe while perennially frustrated by Josephine's hold on him at home. Scott delivers a series of high-velocity battle scenes that vividly remind us of the violence of late 18th-century warfare and its costs.
