Mia Bay (Cambridge University, Paul Mellon Professor of American History) will give the annual History Deptartment Allabough Lecture on 9/30/2025.
Scholar of American and African American intellectual, cultural and social history, Mia Bay (https://www.hist.cam.ac.uk/people/professor-mia-bay) is a graduate of University of Toronto, she complete post graduate studies at Yale University under the supervision of David Brion Davis. In recent years, she has taught at the University of Pennsylvania, where she was the Roy F. and Jeanette P. Nichols Professor of American History, and before that she taught at Rutgers University, where Bay also directed the Rutgers Center for Race and Ethnicity. Bay's research interests include the history of ideas about race, the intellectual work of black women, the study of African American approaches to citizenship, and the history of race and transportation.
